There are different types of paints on the market. They are grouped into three main categories:
- Acrylic paints, or water-based paints, are rapidly replacing traditional oil paints. They are the most widely used by both individuals and professionals for interior painting. Dilutable with water and made from acrylic resin, they contain little solvent and are more environmentally friendly than alkyd paints. Acrylic paints can be used on almost any surface. They dry quickly and allow for easy tool cleanup, and they also have the advantage of being affordable. The only drawback is that the walls cannot be washed.
- Glycerophthalic or oil-based paints: these are the traditional oil-based paints. Oil-based paints are known for their decorative finish, their resistance to impact, humidity, and household cleaning products. Walls can therefore be washed without any problem. They are widely used by our professionals because they are in high demand from our clients. They also protect metal materials against rust. Unlike acrylic paints, they have a strong odor, contain a high concentration of solvents, and require a long drying time.
- Specific paint: they are designed for certain materials that do not easily accept acrylic and glycerophthalic paint, for example, such as wood, which must be treated with products that protect it against climatic aggressions and parasites, or metal, which also requires special treatments.
